Sincerity: The Character of Ronald Reagan
Winner Best Short Documentary 2010 Chicago Underground Film Festival.
"Sincerity" draws upon internal White House footage from 1984 and 1985 surrounding Ronald Reagan's re-election to the presidency, and examines issues of authenticity, privacy, and performance in the maintenance of a public identity.
Before and After the Storm
At the 1976 Republican National Convention, Ronald Reagan gave an impromptu speech about nuclear war and our debt to future generations. This video transposes that speech to a desolate beach and a lone podium.
Reversion
After the Tet Offensive, Robert Kennedy gave a speech in Chicago that acknowledged the improbability of military victory in Vietnam. This video revisits that speech to study the difficulty of recapturing lost moments from history.
